Februaury 18, 2007 Day +1418 Day +1116 off therapy
What a night. Taylor slept with us. He slept all night, but he tossed and turned and talked in his sleep a lot. He was at 102 all night. I was a worried mess. I finally remembered that we have cooling gel sheets to lower fevers. I bought it ages ago when Taylor was not even diagnosed yet. I put one on his forhead and gave him some more Tylenol and within a few minutes he was cooling down. He still had fever, but he must have felt better, he went into a deep sleep. I finally went back to sleep too. We woke up at about 8:30 this morning. He had one arm out of his pj’s and he thought that was funny. He also still had a 102 temp. UURGH! I am starting to get upset. He did sweat a lot last night, so I hope that we are nearing the end. I gave him more Tylenol and he got up to get dressed. He ended up throwing up som snot. It was a lot and it upset him, so he ended up back in pj’s and not wanting pancakes anymore. He also had a little accident and pooped in his pants. It was pure water but I am not sure what caused it. He has not had enough meds to upset his tummy nor has he eaten enough to have something bad. He never did more, so I don’t know what that was. He ate 3/4 a cheese sandwich and tried to take his meds. He has a pill form now (after puking up any liquid meds that went in his mouth, I traded it for a pill) that I am cutting into tiny bits and putting in pudding. He did great last night, but this morning he puked on every bite, but I think that was the pudding. It was oreo pudding and we had gotten into the white part rather than the chocolate and he didn’t like it. I put the rest in yogurt and he was fine. It is going to be a very long 10 days, but it can’t be any worse than Friday night. It took a battle to get maybe 1/2 tsp in him. He puked if any of the augmentin hit his tongue. We just threw it in the trash and had the Dr. call in a pill.

It is now about 12:30 and he is sitting at 98.4. I am still pumping him with Tylenol, but I hope that we are done with fever. He is very stuffy sounding and not much is coming out when we saline. I hope the meds kick in soon and take care of it. He is also complaining of it burning to TT. I am wondering if maybe he has a UTI and that too has elevated his counts??? I absolutely hate this!!! It is so unfair to live like this. I know that I bring it on myslef. I know that he is still a kid and he will get normal illnesses, but no illness is normal in this house. We are in constant fear! Please pray for me not to blow it out of proportion. Pray that he does indeed just have a sinus infection or UTI that the meds will fix, soon!!! Pray that no cancer is in his body now or ever again!!!

I guess I am happy to report that they boys are fighting like cats and dogs and making a huge mess. Taylor has not had any snacks which is odd, but he is jumping and running and laughing. Praise God! More later…….

Februaury 17, 2007 Day +1417 Day +1115 off therapy
Today was a busy day. I picked Logan up at Guh’s house at 10:00 and took him to his pal, Alex’s birthday party. He had a blast. It was at Recreation Station and he had free reign of the arcade and the inflatable area. He loved it. He earned 80 tickets and picked out a slinky and a flute. We had pizza and cake with his friends. He loved that and had to sit by the birthday boy. He even told him right off the bat what he had bought him. So silly! He was very upset when it was time to go, but he got over it pretty quick.

I picked up Taylor who didn’t seem to be running a temp anymore and was playing great. We left Guh’s to go get Daddy from Gam maw’s. He had tried to go to the ball park, but now the jeep wont start at all. Great, just what we need! We all went back to the ball park and got both boys regsitered. Thanks gam maw and Paw paw. We then headed to the sporting goods store and got cleets for both and a batting helment and bag for Logan. Logan is so ready. He is very excited and played with the helment and wore the cleets for the longest time. Taylor will have coach Chris, daddy’s old high school buddy. Logan will have Coach Anthony who happens to be the daddy of the birthday boy from our party today. That worked out great, both boys know their coach and some friends on the team.

Taylor started to feel pretty rotten while we were eating and getting baseball stuff. I bought Tyleno and dosed him up, but it didn’t seem to help. He ran a 102 fever all night. He played pretty good as long as he could do it covered up. He ended up getting in my bed to watch cartoons. I put Logan to bed and went to get in bed with Taylor. He was being very silly, but burning up. It is going to be a long night!

Please be in prayer that we get through this soon and it is only a cold or something. Pray that he has no cancer in him now or forever!!!

FEVER It Sucks!

Update #2
I just thought I would come back before I left for the night. Taylor was freezing when I left you last and I took him temp and it was still 102. I took it with several thermometers and under his arm and under his tongue and still got the same answer. I can not understand how it was normal at the Dr and so high at home. I guess that is par for the course. Anyway, we all laid down for about an hour. Taylor was huddled up in the floor in his room so I put him in my bed and turned cartoons on. Logan came in and laid down too. I never thought that would last, but he laid down just as sweet. No one went to sleep, but we had a nice little rest time all cuddled up together. I miss that when Taylor was little. He would lay with me everyday. I guess Taylor laid there becasue he thought he had to because he asked if he could get up ”now” like I was making him be there. They got up and played while I packed their stuff for Guh’s house. Taylor has had more Tylenol and it has been 2 hrs since the last dose and his temp is still 102 and he still feels cool to me. I am not sure what it is. He is kind of stuffy, but seems to feel just fine. He is playing great. The only difference is he is not eating non stop like he usually is at the point in the day. He is a little more whiney and Logan just hit his hand with a car so he is acting like he has been beat with a bat. Logan is in his bed screaming because he got in trouble. Oh, the drama!

Did you know that 15 years ago today, Jim asked me to be his girlfriend. Wow, that is a long time! I was 13 years old and I am sure I had visions of wedding dresses in my head as well as kids and a house with a white picket fence. Boy, we got that and more. Well, that is a lie, we don’t have a picket fence! I certainly never dreamed that our lives would have even had the word cancer in it much less the cancer being in my baby. However, that is what we were dealt and we will continue to face those fears that go with it for years to come. I know God is with us as well as all of you. We praise God and thank you all!

Okay, we are off to get meds and Jim and go to Guh’s house. Jim and I are going to go see Norbit. I think it will be very funny which I need a good laugh. I am feeling very confident that Taylor is fine and will let this bug run its course and be back to normal. Please join us in that prayer. Have a great weekend!

Please say a prayer for our little man. He went to bed last night with a fever after complaining of neck pain all afternoon. He can look down with no problem, but can not look up. It is always something to put me over the edge. Anyway, he woke up with fever and he is going to the Dr today. I will update later with results. Please pray it is nothing….

What a day! The plan was for Jim to take Taylor and I was going to go to work and when I got off I was going to pick Taylor up from Jim’s work. No such luck. Jim wasn’t out of the subdivision yet when his car started doing something crazy and he had to come back home. He was going to drop me off at work, but once we thought about that meaning he had to bring Taylor back to me at 1:00 and then me take him back to work and pick him up, we decided that I would just call in. It would have cost me a days pay to drive back and forth to Hoover that much. Anyway, the whole family went to the Dr. since there wasn’t enough time to get Jim to work first. It wasn’t too bad of a wait for Greenvale standards. Dr. P looked him over and you know I asked if he felt anything in the tummy which he did not. He is a little snotty, watery eyes and a pink throat. He did a strep test but it was negative and he did a CBC. All counts were normal, but his white count was 16,000. I will admit that I don’t like that, but he assures us it is okay and it is probably a sinus thing plus a bacterial thing. I did have 5 kids out yesterday in my class, so somthing probably is going around. We have a script for Augmentin for the next 10 days. He doesn’t seem to feel bad, but at the same time he does. He isn’t eating great, but he can be bribed to eat and I really feel like if he truly did not feel good enough to eat then he wouldn’t do it. He polished off 5 chicken fingers last night and 1/2 a grilled cheese today. He did not have fever at the Dr, but it is now 101 again. I am starting to question my thermometer because he really doesn’t feel that hot to me. He is playing fine, but is extra whiney. He said earlier that his neck didn’t hurt at all anymore, but then later it did. However, it did hurt when I asked him to put something away. Hmmmm….That is what I hate, he is just not old enough to be able to tell how much is real and how much is a tactic to get out of something.

We are home now, he actually wanted to go to school, but I didn’t think there was much need in checking in at 1:00. I will pick up his meds on the way to pick up Jim. They are staying with Guh tonight. Well, gotta go. Taylor is begging to be covered up to watch TV. He must still have fever because it isn’t that cold in here and his teeth are chattering. He has had fevers like this 100’s of times with sinus issues, but they are never easy to get through as a cancer mom. Please pray that that is all it is and that he will be back to normal very soon.

Today

February 15, 2007 Day +1415 Day +1113 off therapy
Hello there. Today was yet another great day. Logan sat in time out for hitting a friend who tried to play with him. I don’t know what I am going to do with him. He is going to be the class bully. Taylor on the other had was thrilled with another green light day, a lunch helper job and he got to take names when the teacher left the room. Wow, what a day! I remember when being chosen to take names when the teacher left was the best job you could ever get.

After school we all came home and started on the laundry. I told Logan that he could stay up if he was nice and he blew that about 5 minutes after we came in the door. Taylor was playing leggos in the living room and Logan walked up and kicked it and tore it up. Boy, he is so mean! I put him to bed where he cried and then got over it and fell asleep.

Taylor is selling coupon books for $15. We will be turning in all money on Friday, Feb. 23rd, so if you are interested get in touch with me quick! I am also getting out of Mary Kay, so if you are looking for something get in touch with me to see if I have what you need.

Well, that is about the end of our day. We have done homework and packed luches, so we are ready to hang out until bath time. Have a great night. Keep all of our friends in your prayers!

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

Today was aprty day for Taylor and he was so excited. He was so eager to give out those Cars cards with pencils. They partied all day I think. He has talked nonstop about it. He visited with his 5th grade buddy which he loves! He played a trick on Mr. Jackson with cool whip, but I don’t know the details. He gets so tickled when he tries to tell that I can not understand it. He is so funny!

Today is day 60 on green light. Wow, his goal of 100 days is getting nearer. I will be in serious trouble if he gets to it as he has a list of wants a mile long. That will be a long trip to Wal mart. He also made a huge desicion today. He wants to play ball at McAdory. Daddy is going to go sign both boys up this weekend. Wont practice be fun? I am glad he decided to play with his buddies. I just hope the new, bigger field doesn’t upset him.

Jim and I took the boys over to Gam maw and Paw Paw’s for a while so that we could run to Lowe’s and to eat. Jim is trying to make that contraption that was in the paper this weekend to make snow. Somehow you hook up a compressor and pressure washer and if it is 27 or below outside you get snow. He says it is like rocket science, but he is working on it. Watch it snow for real the night he gets it all fixed up!

Well, it is another normal day for us, thank God. We are so blessed. Please be in prayer for all of our friends who are still fighting! We love you all, Happy Valentine’s Day!

Hello all. Today was party day for us at PDO and it was crazy! We had a fairly normal day up unitl noon when we started the party. It was kind of a mad house. I didn’t even get to see my class at the party. I went with Logan. I miss Taylor not being there, but it was so much easier to only have to try and be with one kid instead of two. Logan didn’t really care too much about passing out Valentine’s. He liked the art center where he got to use a glue stick.

Logan also got his first Birthday invitation today. He is so excited that he gets to go to a pals party this time. Taylor is not real thrilled that he doesn’t get to go, but he doesn’t understand that he does that stuff all the time and Logan gets left out.

Taylor had another green light day. Yahoo! He also got his progress report today. Wow, did we worry too soon. He was tested for Initial sounds, Letter naming, phoneme segmentation and nonsense word fluency. They have 1 minute for each test. His scores were Initial sounds 18 his winter goal was 25, so he was a little behind. Letter naming 38 and a goal of 27, wow! Phoneme seg. 43 with a goal of 18, double wow! nonsense words 23 with a goal of 13. I don’t stress over the nonsense words at all since I personally find it kind of stupid for them to learn all year to sound out letters to make a word and now we are slapping words in front of them don’t spell anything. A waiste of time if you ask me. However, no one asked me, so as long as he is benchmarked, I am okay. The letter sounds he knows very well, but gets a little stressed and confused with the timer going, so we are not worried about that either.

The weather was awful this afternoon. We ended up going to the basement and sitting, but it never even rained here at out house. The bad stuff was only a few miles away. The kids sat in the playroom and went through Logan’s Valentine goodies and had a grand time.

2007February 12, 2007 Day +1412 Day +1110 off therapy
Happy Monday. What a beautiful day. It was so nice to see the 60’s again after all this cold we have had. Logan went home with Carson today to play for a while. I went to the car wash and sat peacefully in car pool. I could do that all day. I had a book, a cold drink and nice breeze coming in, it was a nice little break. Once I got Taylor we took advantage of Logan not being there and went to Wal-mart. I just needed a few things, but it is a huge ordeal with both boys. After our trip to Wal mart I went to get Logan. He was not happy about me coming and told me to leave. He was having such a good time. Thanks Sarah for letting him come over.

Once we got home we played outside. Taylor was really ticked off that his 4 wheeler was out of gas, but he didn’t cry or act up, he just got something else. Logan was a bit on the grumpy side since he had no nap, but he did okay. Pippy came over again and they played ball for a while. I cleaned out my car and it looks so much better. You all should have been a fly on the wall of the do it your self car wash. I am not fast enough and it was stressing me out that I would run out of time with soap on my car. I kept knocking myself in the head with the hose or wrapping it around the mirrors and getting jerked back. Crazy! I missed a few spots, but it still is much cleaner that it was.

We had dinner with Gam maw and Paw Paw and Chris and Temp. The boys had a blast playing for a little while. They are all like little stepping stones in age and size, but Logan is soon going to pass them both. He doesn’t eat worth a flip where as the other two eat all the time, but he is the big one.

Oh well, I guess I am just rambling now. I have nothing to report. We had a normal day with no crashes, nose dives etc. Thank goodness! Please be in prayer for Taylor’s continues success as well as all of our friends.

Feb 11, 2007 Day +1411 Day +1109 off therapy

Februaury 11, 2007 Day +1411 Day +1109 off therapy
Hello there. We had another low key day and hung out at home for the most part. We all slept late which was nice, but we missed church. We have not been real good the last few weeks. I guess it is the cold that has kept us dragging, but that is no excuse, we have to get back in routine.

Anyway, we hung out at home. The boys played camping most of the day. Pippy came over for a little while and they had to show him everything in the house and how wild they can be. Speaking of wild, let me tell about last nights drama. There is never a dull moment around here!

I probably say don’t run about 1,000 times a day. However, no one listens. Taylor was eating pizza at about 8:00 last night and he was running in circles around the living room while doing it. He had socks on and slipped and took a nose dive into the hardwood floor. He stood right back up and started to scream. He was doing this very odd, short and high pitched screams, like a signal. It was setting the alarm off. I had to yell at him to stop the screaming to be able to even see what had happened. He had blood coming out of his mouth and nose. My first thought was, how are his platelets. Isn’t it funny that those little cancer mom things never go away. Anyway, we went to the sink where we saw that he had busted his top lip pretty bad but no teeth were knocked out nor any new ones loose. I didn’t think about it at the time that some may have been damaged, but I guess you can’t tell with all the silver and they are about to fall out. We will wait and see if we have any concerns. He didn’t say any teeth hurt and believe me I wiggled them all. He said his nose didn’t hurt, but it is swollen and it bled for a while. He looked awful when he went to bed. He looked like he did after sinus surgery, all puffy. His lip was really fat. He now really looks like he has been in a fight after the eye injury last weekend which is looking great. Today he looks fine. His nose is a little swollen on the inside, but looks okay. I thought it was bleeding this morning, but it was just the snot making the dried up blood come out. We did a saline treatment and got it all out. He must have knocked his sinuses loose because we got out a ton of snot when we did the saline and his nose has not ran all day. Maybe there was some good in that face first fall. He has a nice looking sore on his lip, but he says it doesn’t hurt. He didn’t have any trouble eating or brushing his teeth today. I am very happy to report on normal illness and injury rather than cancer things, but I am a little scared of what the future will hold if his track record keeps up. Oh, and no, he has still not stopped running!

We did meet Gam maw and Paw Paw for some Mexican food. It was yummy! We went to Walmart and Gam maw got Logan a new car seat. He now has a big boy seat like Taylor. I know you are all thinking the same thing I did, he is too little. I think Taylor may have been older when he got one, but Lgoan is bigger. Logan is only a few inches shorter and 2 pounds lighter than Taylor is. He is so excited. I worry about him trying to unbuckle, but he has shocked us with everything else he has done, so I am going to give him some credit on this one. It will be some much easier now to travel and move car seats and stuff. I miss my baby and I know that soon I will not have my little cuddle bug, but it is nice to lose the diaper bag and all that other stuff that you have to tote with a little one.

Well, I guess that was enough excitement for one day. I will be back with more tomorrow. Please pray that Taylor has no more accidents. Pray he has no cancer in his body ever again. Speaking of, Taylor gets CURE magazine and JIm was looking through it yesterday and came across a very beautiful sentence. Now, keep in mind that this was a general statement about cancer and that NB is very aggressive and has a mind of its own and that this may not really apply, but it is a very positive and hopeful thing and I plan to keep it in mind. It said that people that had all of their tumor removed at time of surgery had less chance of relapse. Taylor did indeed have all of his tumor resected on that first surgery as well as the adrenal glad where it originated. Pretty cool huh, let us all pray that this is a true statement for Taylor. Also, pray for Evan who had some excitement while at home and had to go the ER. www.caringbridge.org/visit/evanthomason

Today.

Februaury 10, 2007 Day +1410 Day +1108 off therapy
We had a very low key day and that is unusual for us. We are always on the go doing something. Taylor was up at 8:30 which I thought was way early considering he was still up at 1:00 this morning. I have no idea what possessed him to stay up that late. He was playing a game on the TV and when he turned it off to get in bed it was dark and he got scared. He ended up in our bed and I swear he was asleep in about 25 seconds. He didn’t root me out of the bed either, I don’t think he moved all night.

I did some laundry and dishes, but for the most part our house is still clean. The boys cleaned their rooms, again. We cleaned the play room too. It wasn’t too bad of a mess really so it didn’t take too long. We have rearranged the furniture in the den portion of the play room so that we have more room. We are now all down here which is rare. Jim is playing his X box and the boys are playing. They are playing separately so it is quiet:) Taylor is taking pictures with his camera and Logan is playing with his baby Elmo. They are so sweet when they want to be.

We met Gam maw and Paw Paw for lunch today and then went to the grocery store. I bet Paw Paw didn’t think the boys could spend that much money on food. They have enough lunch stuff to last 2 months, but they will have it gone in a week. They think they have to sample everything the first day. Logan loves to pack his lunch box, but you have to watch him. I let him help me the other night and I just happened to look in it a while later. Thank goodness I did since he had put an ice cream sandwich in it. I told him you can’t pack an ice cream sandwich in your lunch box because it will melt. He said, “oh, it was a smamich”.

Well, I guess that about does it for us. Not much to tell. Please keep Taylor and his continued success in your prayers. Pray for Evan who is home home www.caringbridge.org/visit/evanthomason Pray for Madison who is feeling kind of yuck right now. www.caringbridge.org/visit/madisonbeck Stop by and visit Colette who just had some great scans!! www.caringbridge.org/al/colette Pray for all our other friends who are battling too.

Februaury 9, 2007 Day +1409 Day +1107 off therapy
TGIF! Well, no such luck in getting to sleep in. Boy, it was cold though. We had a good day. There is really nothing to report. Taylor kept telling me that Ghen Ghen had lunch with him and that he took her to the library to show her around. He even told us what she ate for lunch. We didn’t know what to think since his story was consistent, but we thought she was at work. Jim called her and sure enough she did eat lunch with him. I bet he was so surprised. He won today for having the most “windows” in his mouth. That would be missing teeth.

Guh came over tonight and brought pizza. She stayed to play for a while. After she left Logan asked to go to bed. He never napped today. Taylor stayed up for a while even though he was about to fall asleep.

We will be sure to update again tomorrow on the weekend happenings. Have a good weekend!!!

February 8, 2007 Day +1408 Day +1106 off therapy
Hello all! It has been another good day for us. Praises for that. Taylor’s eye is looking better everyday. We have just been putting Neosporine the last few days rather than all that other goop. It seems to be okay. I am sure he will have a nice scar from it, but that will be okay.

Logan slept all through carpool which was nice. I looked at a magazine while we waited. It was nice not to read the same line 20 times. Of course, there was no nap once we got home, but they played well together.

Taylor cracked me up on the way home. There is a cow pasture that we pass on the way home. There is a baby cow that we look for everyday. Today it was drinking milk from its mommy which probably would have sparked his interest anyway, but the fact that it had its head between its mom’s back legs really made him think. He asked what it was doing and I told him it was drinking milk. He thought a minute and said, “by suckin’ her butt” I thought I was going to have to pull over and laugh. I tried to explain that that was not what was happening, but I was too tickled.

We did homework once we got home and he breezed through all his S words and sentences like he had been reading for years. I don’t know if it is just a mood thing with him or what. Some days he breezes through it and some days he acts like he has never seen it.

I made a quick run to the store for milk and a few lunch items to carry us through. I had no idea that ice had been predicted for tomorrow and the place was cram packed. It was awful! I finally made it back home. We just hung out at home for the evening and hoped we would be out of school tomorrow!

Updates all around...

February 7, 2007 Day +1407 Day 1105 off therapy

Hi again. Another perfectly normal day. Today we just did Neosporine and a Clifford bandage on the eye. It is starting to scab and itch now, so we have a whole new set of problems. Taylor was very angry with me this morning. He is so very slow and I had asked him to get dressed several times and he was not doing it. He loves to stand in the door and watch Jim leave, but I didn’t let him today since he was not dressed. He had an all out fit, but he has to learn to get ready faster. If my mom is reading this she is laughing and telling me I earned all this seeing as I was probably slower than he is. However, I do not care if she laughs!

Logan had a melt down this morning too. He loves his “pack pack” and wants to wear it into school, but I make him leave it in the car since there is not much room in his basket. He cried and cried to bring it in today, so I let him. However, once we got in he refused to put it in his basket. I had to talk to him and convince him it would still be there at 1:00. He finally got over it, but it took some doing. I guess we are getting somewhere, he did let me talk rather than just hit the floor in an all out fit.

We picked up Taylor this afternoon and went to the bank before heading home. Taylor was very upset that he forgot his folder today. It has the results from the free vision screening they got today. I would assume all was okay, but he wanted me to have it.

Well, as boring as that was, that is it for us today. I am off to do homework with Taylor so that we can go eat with Gam maw.

Pray for Jacob who had to leave school with fever today. He is a “just off treatment” friend and we know what it is like to leave school for fever.

Hello all! Today was a good day. We all had school as usual. Taylor has liquid bandage on his eye again. He was not happy, but oh well. It really doesn’t look that bad now. It is ugly sitting there on his eye, but it isn’t so bad. Hey, it is a normal little boy boo boo! He went to PE today with his class. He loves PE, but I think he was just as happy to sit with Mrs. Thornton.

Logan did not get into trouble today. (hear the sigh of relief) I just don’t know what to do with him. He is just a different bread!! He is doing good in the 3 yr old class. He goes potty all by himself now, on the big potty. Will he do it at home? No. He is coloring better than he was, but still mosty scribble, but I know that Taylor still scribbled when he started that class and he was older. He talks way more than Taylor, obviously if you read yesterday’s update!

I had a sorority meeting tonight, so I was gone. The boys had been fed and taken all meds before I left. They were in bed, but still awake when I got home, so I went in to talk to them. I asked Taylor if daddy put medicine on his eye and he said, “Uh, yes!” I knew better, but I let him slide!

I did all of Logan’s valentine cards today. Taylor sat down and wrote his out by himself. It took forever, but he did it. I don’t think he can read his own writing now that it is done, but he did it. He was so excited! He has it all packed up and ready to go.

Please be in prayer for all of our friends that are fighting their own battles. Pray that Taylor will be healed of cancer forever. Pray that Evan gets to come home home soon. Pray Joey as he contnues toheal from his car crash. Also, all the other friends!!

Be sure to read yestrday’s update so you know what happened to Taylor’s eye!

I retaped Taylor this morning. It is opened up pretty wide now. I can not get it to close up now. I don’t guess that is good, but it is too late to try and go to the Dr. now. He isn’t bothered by it, so I guess he is okay. I walked him into class today to tell Mrs. Thornton what happened and to keep an eye out for him. He will not go to PE if they are doing something rough. The kids were so funny asking why he had tape on his face. I went by CVS and got some liquid bandage for it. I bought no sting, but I hear it still stings really bad. I dread it!

Logan is a nut! He told Taylor he was having a baby. Taylor asked how and his answer. Brace yourself for this one! “I ate a boy and it will come out at Christmas”. When asked how it comes out he said, “he will break me apart and put me back together.” There are about 6 pregnant moms in Logan’s class so I assume that is what sparked the baby talk, but it was so funny. I also know that I will be staying out of that classroom there is obvioulsy something in the water!

When we picked Taylor up I could tell that he had been retaped, but he said it only came off at nap time. It is not bleeding at all anymore. He did end up staying with Mrs. Thornton at PE. He didn’t care. He was thrilled that he got to help her hang stuff up. Temp. got us Upwards ball info. Taylor will be playing Upwards ball at Flint Hill. I am glad that he has decided to do something. He is thrilled to get a hat and shirt, but concerned about getting a trophy. I told him if he did his very best and they did not give him a trophy we would go buy one. Logan will not get to play since they have a 4 year old age limit, but he didn’t care. He doesn’t know the difference. I think he would like it if he tried, but he assures me he is too little to play. I am not sure what league Taylor will do. The ages are listed as 4-5 and 1st -5th grades. He is in the middle of that. He is 6 but not in first grade. It is so much cheaper too!

Bath time was fun! Taylor did not want me to mess with the boo boo, but I wanted it good and clean. Once we were out I laid him down and put poroxide on it. Oh yeah, it bubbled like crazy. I feel much better now that that is done! I put the liquid bandage on it while I talked to Guh on the phone. I was done and had cleaned up the mess and he had not said a word, so I thought it must not be hurting. It must have had to seep in because after a minute or two he went bonkers! It didn’t last too long. I hope it is working, I would feel better if it was covered. I haven’t decided how to send him to school tomorrow. I put neosporine on it after school, so hopefully that will help too.

Well, I guess that is it. I am happy to be reporting on normal, little boy boo boos rather than hickmans and blodd draws. Please keep all our friends in prayer!

February 4, 2007 Day +1404 Day 1102 off therpary

What a day! We spent all morning keeping the house clean. That is a job as hard as getting the house clean. Guh came over around 1:00 and read with them and played cars. Taylor has already completed 170 minutes out of 360 for his Six Flags ticket. He is so exctied!

Around 2:00 the jewelry lady got here and I sent the kids down stairs. We may never know exactly what happened, but I guess that doesn’t matter. Me being the “only kid” just doesn’t get it, but I guess that doesn’t matter either. Anyway, we heard a svream from the playroom. I ignored it at first thinking it was just fighing, but I could soon tell that it was a real cry. I heard Jim say what happened but still wasn’t overly concerend with it. All of a sudden Taylor’s cries got louder and more intense and I heard Jim say, “just calm down” and I knew it was bad. They started up the stairs and he tells me not to freak out at the same time that Taylor is rounding the corner with blood running down his face from his EYE! according to Logan (who stayed down stairs scared to death) he just “touched” him and he fell over. Somehow Taylor fell into the corner of the train table and cut his eye between his eye lid and brow. It probably really needed a stitch or two, but where it was we really didn’t think they would. He got cleaned up and calmed down pretty quick and we taped it up and he went on about his day.

There were not many of us at the party, but we had a good time. Jim left to go get gam maw and Paw Paw from the airport. We met them at their house for dinner. We all got lots of goodies. Thanks Gam maw and Paw Paw! Taylor ate like a pig as usual and Logan barely touched his. Taylor’s eye continued to bleed on and off all night. If he would calm down a little I am sure it would help. he also doesn’t like that tape and pulls at it, so it will not stay pulled together. I am sure he will have a nasty scar, but I guess that is okay.

Once we got home we retaped the eye and tucked everyone in. I have to say I went to bed a little upset about rather or not we should have gone on to the ER, but it was too late then. I guess as long as it stays clean we will be okay!

Please be in prayer for our friends that are fighting their own fights. Pray for Evan who got put inpatient with fever, but he did get to see some snow first! www.caringbridge.org/visit/evanthomason Pray for Morgan who always follows Taylor or vice versa. She had some stragne pains in early January. They seem to be gone, but we know how scary it is. www.caringbridge.org/nc/morganbarnes Pray for Sarah’s mom, Becky, who had her own stay in the hospital. The situation is not funny, but she is so funny that you can’t help but laugh when you read the update. www.caringbridge.org/nc/sarahsmith Pray for Taylor to be cancer free forver! Pray his eye will heal okay.

February 3, 2007 Day +1403 Day 1101 off therpary
Okay, I am starting to get ill. For the third weekend in a row we have send the kids off and no sleeping late! I even stayed up until after midnight last night, but still was up early. All though I have to say, It was 8:15 when I woke up which is later than usual.

Okay, enough of my moaning about sleeping late. I got a lot done today before the kids got home. Guh brought them home around 11:00. It is amazing to watch Taylor grow literally in front of our eyes. It was just last Friday that I conferenced with his teacher due to concerns with his reading. He came home with a thick Dick and Jane book that he had been reading all by himslef at Guh’s. He has now finished the entire book. I love to read and I had the book I am reading on the table. He opened it up to see if he knew any of the words. It was upside down and he managed to read “in the zoo.” He was so excited that he found words he knew in my “big book”.

Ghen Ghen came to get them and took them to the movies. There was not much playing for kids and they ended up seeing “Night at the Museum.” We thought he might be a little afraid of the dino and he was. He (Taylor) covered his head with his coat. Once he realized what was going on he was no longer afraid. I don’t think Logan cared at all. The wormed their way into Walmart and got more tractors. They also went out to eat. They got home around 5:00 or so and started to play some more. They both got their rooms cleaned and we will see how long that lasts. We are now just hanging out and doing nothing. Tomorrow we are having a jewelry party and daddy is going to go pick up Gam maw and Paw paw from the airport. We are going to go have dinner with them at their house. Ghen Ghen is going to have it ready when they get home. How nice!

I guess that is about it for us. I don’t have much to report. I have not checked in on our friends today, so I don’t have any news to share. Please stop by and check on them. I do know that Mr. Evan got to see some snow. www.caringbridge.org/visit/evanthomason and I know that the Raybirn clan has some awesome news. They are expecting a new baby. I know that Angel Jake is going to he the best guardian angel. www.caringbridge.org/la.jakeowen

February 2, 2007 Day +1402 Day 1100 off therpary
Ground Hog Day! Yeah, ole Phil didn’t see his shadow, maybe it will warm up soon. If we can’t get a few inches of snow I would rather it just be warm.

It was a normal day for us today. Taylor had a great day at school as did Logan. Logan and I ran a few errands so that we didn’t have to do it after school. We came home where the boys attempted to clean their rooms. We got packed up and I took them to Wal mart then to Guh’s. I owed Taylor and prize for being on green all month. He picked a yellow digger of some sort. Some how Logan landed himself a gator with huge wheels. I left them at Guh’s for the night and headed to meet Jim at dinner. In the middle of dinner Guh called with a mad Taylor on her hands. Taylor’s meds have been upped to 10mg which is an adult dose, so it was not the yummy cherry pill he expected. He wouldn’t chew it since it was nasty and wouldn’t swallow it either. He ended up puking in his bowl of oatmeal. I am going to try and get 60 5mg per month rather than the 10’s, but either way we have a months worth of the 10’s to get through. I have threatened him about it. I know he can swallow this tiny pill, he can swallow an Accutane pill. I will let you know how tonight goes. Logan is doing much better with his medicine. As long as I give him small amounts of meds and milk after each drop he is fine. We have 4 days down and 6 to go.

Jim and I went to Formosa for dinner and to do a little shopping. We headed home to clean house with no kids around. Jim had to get “Tweety” off the grill of my car. I hit a bird while I was driving the other day and it was all wraped up in my grill. Yuck! The boys thought it was hilarious, but not me!

Please be in prayer for all of our friends. Pray that Taylor never again faces cancer.

February 1, 2007 Day +1401 Day 1099 off therpary
Wow, here we go again, flying through the months. It will be time for Christmas again before we know it. Time sure does fly the older you get.

I failed to mention yesterday that it was Taylor’s 50th day on green light in a row. Wow! Remember he set a goal long ago to get to 100 and he seems to be doing good so far. Now there are only 83 days left according to Taylor, so he doesn’t have room for error:) He has done very well which I do believe is prrof that he is maturing as we go along. He was getting in trouble for petty things in the beginning of the year that he has learned to control.

I also spoke too soon on Logan taking his medicine good. This morning was pure torure for us both. Taylor watched the whole thing with his mouth wide open and then had the nerve to say, “I take my mediine good.” I very quickly told him that he acted just like that. He just grinned. I shot about half a teaspoon in Logan’s mouth and he started gagging. I gave him a drink and he gagged about half of it down. We did the other half of the syringe very, very slowly with a drink after every little drip of medicine. He got it down and kept it down, but it is going to be a long 10 days. I did learn that I need to give meds before he gets dressed! The problem is that he does not like to eat breakfast and he needs food with it. I took yogurt with us and he ate it at school, so hopefully that will help. Augmenton does not bother Taylor’s tummy at all. Logan has never had it, but isn’t bothered by the other meds he gets. I have my fingers crossed that the freshly potty trained man doesn’t have any issues that cause troubles.

Taylor made it to day 51 on green light today. He is so very excited. He sang I’m a little snowman all the way home. He is eating now, go figure! He has some homework that we will get to after his snack. Logan is napping. He complained of his ear hurting while he was running today, but he seems to be feeling better. Taylor actually seems to be getting worse with his meds. I am sure it is the weather and just a cold that hit at this time, but I was hoping he would clear up with all the new stuff he is on. Oh well! We will just keep in trying.

Please be in prayer for Taylor’s continued success. Pray for Evan, www.caringbridge.org/visit/evanthomason Pray for Madison, www.caringbridge.org/madisonbeck Pray for Bradley who had surgery on his mouth today. I hear he has been a trooper, way to go Bradley!!! Pray for all of our friends who are battling!
